CCPC Economics classroom resources

The CCPC, in consultation with an experienced Economics teacher, has developed two Economics posters to support Leaving Certificate Economics students.

The posters use real-world examples to help students understand how competition and markets operate in practice.

As Ireland's competition and consumer protection authority, a core function of the CCPC is investigating and enforcing competition law. Drawing on actual CCPC cases, the posters demonstrate how economic concepts studied in the classroom are applied in real-world situations, helping students connect theory with practice.

Competition and the CCPC

This poster explains the role of the CCPC in promoting competition and enforcing competition law. Using real-world CCPC enforcement cases, it illustrates how competition authorities investigate anti-competitive behaviour, assess its impact on consumers and markets, and take action to protect competition.

Market Structures & Market Concentration

This poster shows how the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index (HHI) is used to measure market concentration and assess the impact of mergers on competition. Using real-world CCPC merger cases, it illustrates how economic analysis helps competition authorities evaluate market structures and identify potential competition concerns.
