About our priorities

Part of the CCPC’s remit is to advise the Government on how new laws and policies might affect competition and consumers. By sharing the main areas we are calling for change in, we hope to work with policymakers to make our economy more competitive and improve people’s lives.


1. Allow the CCPC to identify cartels in public procurement

The CCPC needs the power to screen public procurement data for signs that businesses are secretly colluding to influence outcomes.

We want a legal sector that is more competitive, more innovative in how it provides services, and more transparent for consumers.

CCPC funded research from 2025 shows that Irish consumers are strongly in favour of information about homes for sale being shared openly.

A new or used car is one of the biggest purchases consumers make. However, faulty vehicles are the top complaint among Irish consumers.

Changes to the law are needed to give the CCPC the power to impose large fines for serious offences.
