Introduction

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has created a set of classroom worksheets to accompany The Complaints Bureau, a consumer rights and financial education television series that is sponsored by the CCPC, where each episode will feature stories about issues affecting real consumers.

Episodes from season 1 and 2 can be found on the RTÉ Player.

These resources will help students explore and problem solve consumer rights issues and learn how to make informed decisions when shopping or dealing with businesses.

The worksheets align with topics covered in Senior Cycle Home Economics and Business, but they may also be relevant for other areas and stages. Each worksheet is designed to spark discussion and promote practical learning, making it easy to bring real-life consumer issues into your lessons. This includes identifying appropriate consumer rights legislation, understanding your rights, and making a complaint.

With thanks to members of the BSTAI and ATHE for their input on the development of these resources.
