About mortgage providers
About the CCPC's mortgage comparison tools and how we decide which mortgage providers appear on them
With CCPC’s mortgage comparison tools, consumers can compare mortgage products available on the Irish market. Our tools help consumers to understand different rates, features and associated costs before choosing a mortgage. CCPC’s mortgage comparison tools provide independent and impartial comparisons using product information that is supplied by each provider and verified by the CCPC before publication.
The CCPC treats all mortgage providers equally and has clear inclusion criteria and rules. The CCPC does not recommend products, assess suitability or replace regulated mortgage advice. There is no commercial relationship between CCPC and financial providers.
Provider authorisation
To be included, a mortgage provider must be authorised to offer mortgage lending in Ireland. The CCPC confirms prospective providers regulatory status as part of the application process. This authorisation may be granted by the Central Bank of Ireland or another EEA regulator (and authorised in Ireland under EU passporting rules).
Product availability
Mortgage products must be currently on offer to new customers and be widely available to a reasonable proportion of the public. Products that are niche, geographically limited or no longer available to consumers are not included.
Product comparability
Mortgage products must be suitable for comparison with others in the same category. Providers must supply required information such as interest rates, Loan-to-Value (LTV) bands, mortgage amounts, terms and APRC.
No tied or legacy products
Mortgage products must not be legacy products. We also don’t allow tied products that require the consumer to purchase another product.
Oversight and removal of products
While the CCPC operates Mortgage Comparisons, the regulatory supervision of mortgage lenders remains the responsibility of the relevant financial regulator. The CCPC commissions regular independent audits of our Money Tools and Mortgage Comparisons.
If issues are identified with product data, the CCPC may require corrections, remove products or providers, or report issues to the Central Bank of Ireland.
