CCPC warns of suspected scam website impersonating EuroGiant

February 13, 2026

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) is warning consumers of a suspected fraudulent website, which appears to impersonate retailer EuroGiant.

The alert follows the CCPC’s engagement with the EuroGiant liquidators regarding the protection of consumer rights during the liquidation process.

The website appears to sell a range of household and other items at discounted prices as part of an alleged ‘closing down’ sale. However, this website has no association whatsoever with the EuroGiant brand.

The liquidators have posted a warning on EuroGiant’s social media accounts in order to protect consumers, and are making a formal notification to An Garda Síochána.

The official EuroGiant website has been deactivated as part of the liquidation process. Therefore, the CCPC is warning consumers to avoid any social media ads or links that may be impersonating the EuroGiant brand.

Stay safe when shopping online

When shopping online, consumers should always remain vigilant as scammers frequently use convincing clones of trusted websites to trick shoppers.

  • Stop: Scammers often create urgency to pressure quick decisions. If something feels off or too good to be true, stop and think before engaging further.
  • Search: Remember that logos, “about us” pages and imagery on websites can be fabricated.
  • Stay safe: Watch out for common red flags, including unusually large discounts.

If you think you’ve been scammed, contact your bank or payment provider immediately. You may be able to initiate a chargeback and get your money back, and you may need to freeze your card to prevent further money being taken. An Garda Síochána are responsible for pursuing scam operators so contact your local Garda office and report it.
