Ofwal Limited, the trader, trading as Easons.com, gave an undertaking pursuant to section 73 of the Consumer Protection Act 2007 following the conclusion of an investigation by the CCPC into the use of price reduction announcements on the trader’s website during the 2023/24 Winter Sales period.

The trader undertook to ensure compliance with the European Communities (Requirements to Indicate Product Prices) Regulations 2002 (S.I. No. 639/2002), as amended (‘the Regulations’), and, in particular, to indicate in an unambiguous, easily identifiable and clearly visible and legible manner, the correct prior price of each product to which a price reduction announcement applies. This includes inter alia to refrain from:

  • displaying a crossed-out price that is presented as the prior price of products on its website where, in effect it is not the prior price as required by the Regulations; and
  • making price reduction announcements where the selling price is higher than the correct prior price as stipulated by the Regulations.

The CCPC accepted the written undertaking from the trader on 30 October 2025.
