Woodside Furniture Company Limited trading as Pieces (‘the trader’) was found, when inspecting the trader’s website, www.pieces.ie, to have engaged in a prohibited commercial practice by providing information that would be likely to deceive or mislead consumers as to their cancellation rights in relation to distance contracts under the Consumer Rights Act 2022 and, in particular, its sections 112(1) and 113(4). That information would be likely to cause the average consumer to make a transactional decision that they would not otherwise make.
The CCPC served a Compliance Notice on the trader, which took effect on 12 June 2026, directing it to remedy the contravention identified on the website www.pieces.ie in order to ensure that any statements including terms and conditions and returns policies, in relation to the duration of the cancellation period in which consumers can cancel distance sales contracts, accurately reflects the legal rights a consumer may avail of as provided for by Part 5 of the Consumer Rights Act 2022.
