Outline of the Case
An association of undertakings can harm consumers by eliminating competition among its members. They can do this by fixing the prices at which its members sell their products. This is a breach of competition law.
Following the initiation of proceedings against various parties over allegations concerning retail price fixing of milk, settlements were reached with Tesco in December 2002, with Glanbia and Sligo Dairies in July 2003 and with Dairygold in March 2004.
