Product Safety Information Notice on Petzl Astro Harnesses manufactured before October 2023

A safety issue has been identified with Petzl Astro rope access Harnesses manufactured before October 2023.

The risk reported to the CCPC is injury. There is a non-conformity with the harness. When the harness is used in a way that puts high lateral pressure on the attachment point, the screws can wear out prematurely. If this happens, the ventral D-ring’s pin can release. This may cause the attachment point to open, which could result in serious injury or death.

What to do:

Customers should stop using the product immediately and inspect their harness.

To check if your harness is affected by this safety information notice, and how to receive a replacement kit, please access the Petzl safety notice.

If your harness has already been inspected and is compliant and has a green sticker from the 2023 call for inspection, you still need to carry out the replacement as soon as you receive the replacement kit.
