A safety issue has been identified with the Eclipse / Embrass Peerless Universal Circulating Pump used in heating systems.

It has been identified that the mains electrical coupling to the pump can be connected in reverse which can pose a serious risk of electrocution.

The brand name is Eclipse (Embrass Peerless for use in heating systems). The model is CFA 25-50-130. The affected product code is 490920.

At this time, there are 1728 confirmed affected pumps in the Republic of Ireland; however, this figure may increase as investigations continue.

What to do:

An installed pump can remain in operation, but you must take care not to handle affected pumps as there is a serious risk of electrocution. Consumers that have the affected model of pump installed, and where the unit is working properly, can continue to safely use their heating systems.

The CCPC is working to ensure an appropriate corrective action is implemented for Irish consumers and will provide an update as soon as possible.
