Petzl Recalls NOMIC (U021AA00) Ice Axes

Petzl is carrying out a recall on certain batches of NOMIC (U021AA00) Ice Axes.

An image of a potentially affected ice axe and an image of two ice axes that are not affected. The potentially affected axes are the model number NOMIC U021AA00, while the not affected are NOMIC U21 and U21 x.

The risk reported to the CCPC is injuries. There is a risk of handle failure that could cause the climber to fall.

The brand is Petzl. The model is U021AA00. Previous generations of NOMIC (model U21 and U21 x) are not affected.

Only NOMIC U021AA00 ice axes manufactured between December 2017 and June 2020 are affected. Affected serial numbers are 17 L 0000000 000 to 20 F 9999999 999.

There are approximately 4 affected products in the Republic of Ireland.

What to do:

Consumers should stop using the product immediately.
