In August 2017 the CCPC opened an investigation into the sale of a car by Kieran McArdle of Doohamlet Motors, Castleblaney, Co Monaghan. When the consumer who bought the car tried to insure it he found it was previously crashed and had been deemed uneconomical to repair (a category C write-off).
As a result of the investigation, Kieran McArdle and Doohamlet Motors Limited have signed an agreement and undertaking with the CCPC, agreeing to refrain from engaging in misleading commercial practices.
