Auto-Enrolment

What is Auto-Enrolment

From 1 January 2026, a new pension savings scheme called My Future Fund will begin. It is for employees who are not already paying into a pension.

A new organisation called the National Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings Authority will run the scheme. It will be watched over by the Pensions Authority to make sure everything is working properly.

Who will be enrolled?

  • You will be automatically enrolled in Auto-Enrolment Retirement Savings Scheme, My Future Fund, from 1 January 2026 if:
  • You are working as an employee
  • You are aged between 23 and 60
  • You earn €20,000 or more per year from your job(s)
  • You and your employer are not currently paying into a supplementary pension through payroll.

If all of these apply to you, you will be enrolled without needing to take any action.

What does it mean for you?

  • You, your employer and the Government will all pay a certain amount into My Future Fund
  • You will receive money from auto-enrolment on top of the State Pension
  • Your pension pot will move with you between jobs
  • You will have easy access to your information through an online portal
