European Consumer Centre Ireland (ECC) ECC Ireland is a member of the European Consumer Centre Network, which offers consumers across Europe advice on their rights when shopping in another European state.
The Citizens Information Board The Citizens Information Board provides information, advice and advocacy on a broad range of public and social services.
Financial services
Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) The Central Bank of Ireland is responsible for central banking and financial regulation. It is responsible for protecting the best interests of consumers of financial services.
Money Advice and Budgeting Service (MABS) MABS provides free and confidential help for people who are having problems with money management and debt.
Back on Track The Insolvency Service of Ireland (ISI) is an independent government organisation set up to help people sort out personal debt problems. The ISI has launched Back on Track, an information campaign for people who are struggling with problem debt.
Credit Review Office The Credit Review Office provides an independent, impartial credit appeals process for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including sole traders and farmers.
The Pensions Authority The Pensions Authority is responsible for the proper administration of pension schemes and the protection of pension rights for people living in Ireland.
Complaints/Ombudsman
The Office of the Ombudsman The Office of the Ombudsman investigates complaints from people against certain public bodies, for example, government departments and agencies, local authorities, and publicly funded third level education bodies.
Financial Services Ombudsman (FSO) The Financial Services Ombudsman investigates and rules on unresolved complaints of customers about financial service providers.
The Pensions Ombudsman The Pensions Ombudsman investigates and rules on complaints from members and beneficiaries in relation to Occupational Pension Schemes, Personal Retirement Savings Accounts and Trust Retirement Annuity contracts.
The Ombudsman for Children The Ombudsman for Children promotes the rights and welfare of children and investigates complaints made by children or on behalf of children against public bodies, schools and hospitals.

The Health Insurance Authority (HIA) The HIA is the independent statutory regulator for the private health insurance market in Ireland.
Law/Government
The Revenue Commissioners The Revenue Commissioners is responsible for collecting taxes and duties and implementing Customs controls.
The Courts Service of Ireland The Courts Service provides support services for judges, court buildings and court users and provides information on the courts system to the public.

Health and safety
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) The FSAI is responsible for co-ordinating the enforcement of food safety legislation in Ireland.
The Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) The role of the HPRA is to protect and enhance public and animal health by regulating medicines, medical devices and other health products. It is also responsible for monitoring the safety of cosmetics.
Health and Safety Authority (HSA) The HSA is responsible for enforcing health and safety at work. It provides information to employers, employees and self-employed people on workplace health and safety.
Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) HIQA is an independent authority responsible for quality, safety and accountability in residential services for children, older people and people with disabilities in Ireland.
Injuries Board InjuriesBoard.ie’s role is to provide an independent assessment of personal injury claims for compensation following road traffic, workplace or public liability accidents.
National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) The NSAI is the national certification authority for CE marking and provides a certification service which allows businesses to show that Irish goods and services conform to applicable standards.

The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) ComReg is responsible for the regulation of the electronic communications sector (telecommunications, radio communications and broadcasting transmission) and the postal sector.
Energy regulation
The Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) CER is Ireland’s independent energy and water regulator.
Education
Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI) In the area of qualifications, QQI maintains the ten-level National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ). In the area of quality assurance, it reviews quality assurance in further and higher education providers in Ireland. QQI also authorises the use of an International Education Mark (IEM) for providers of education and training.

The Road Safety Authority (RSA) The Road Safety Authority aims to save lives and prevent injuries by reducing the number and severity of collisions on the road.

Business Regulation Business Regulation is the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation’s portal which aims to help users identify the main regulations that affect their businesses and provide links to the relevant agencies and their guidance, tools and contact points.

Directorate-General for Competition, European Commission The European Commission, together with national authorities, directly enforces EU competition rules. Within the EC, the Directorate-General for Competition is primarily responsible for these enforcement powers.
