Volvo Car Ireland Limited further extends recall of certain passenger vehicles

November 30, 2020

Volvo Car Ireland Limited is extending an active recall campaign initiated in July 2020. This recall campaign was extended in August 2020 and September 2020. All recall notices are already published on the CCPC’s website can be viewed here, here and here. The current recall extension relates to the below models.

Volvo Models: V40 and V40CC

The vehicles in question were manufactured between April 2014 and November 2016.

Volvo Car Ireland Limited has established that when changing the engine coolant there is a risk for trapped air to be in the cooling system afterwards, this may result in insufficient cooling of engine components, and in very rare causes, cause a fire in the engine bay.

There are a further 857 vehicles affected on the Irish market.

What to do:

Volvo Car Ireland Limited will be writing directly to those consumers affected by this recall. The letter will advise affected vehicle owners to contact their nearest Volvo Dealer or Authorised Repairer where an extra degassing line (Bleeder Hose) will be added between the cooling system radiator and the cooling system expansion tank. This will evacuate the trapped air.

Volvo Car Limited Ireland can be contacted on: 01-4631220 which operates from 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday, or by using the following online form.
