Volvo recalls certain passenger vehicles

July 24, 2020

Volvo Car Ireland Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of a number of Volvo passenger vehicles which are listed below;

Volvo Model: S80, S60, V70, XC70, S60cc, V60, XC60, V60cc, V40 and V40cc

The vehicles in question were manufactured between 2014 and 2018.

Volvo Car Ireland Limited have established that when changing the engine coolant there is a risk for trapped air to be in the cooling system afterwards, this may result in insufficient cooling of engine components, and in very rare cases, cause a fire in the engine bay.

There are 3,246 vehicles affected on the Irish Market.

What to do:

Volvo Car Ireland Limited will be writing directly to those consumers affected by this recall. The letter will advise affected vehicle owners to contact their nearest Volvo Dealer or Authorised Repairer where an extra degassing line (Bleeder Hose) will be added between the cooling system radiator and the cooling system expansion tank. This will evacuate the trapped air.

Volvo Car Limited Ireland can be contacted on: 01-4631220 or by using the following online form.
