Volvo Car Ireland Limited recalls certain passenger vehicles

January 7, 2020

Volvo Car Ireland Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of a number of Volvo Passenger vehicles which are listed below;

Volvo Models: V40, V40CC, S60, S60CC, V60, V60CC, S80, V70, XC70 and XC60

The vehicles in question were manufactured between 2013 and 2017, model year 2014-2017. There are 1,738 vehicles affected on the Irish Market.

Volvo Car Ireland Limited has identified that in very rare cases the plastic engine intake manifold may melt and deform. This could occur due to an excessive build-up of carbon deposits in the intake system combined with an increased intake air temperature as a consequence of valve leakage. If this happens it may cause unusual engine operation, the engine Malfunction Indication Light might be lit, engine interruption or lack of power. As a worst case scenario there is a possibility that a localized engine bay fire may occur.
