Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited recalls certain ‘VW Tiguan’ passenger vehicles

February 16, 2021

Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain ‘VW Tiguan’ passenger vehicles. The vehicles were produced between 15 December 2015 and 30 November 2019.

A safety issue has been identified whereby on some Tiguan R-Line vehicles manufactured during a specified production period, the roof spoiler may become detached from the vehicle owing to the possible use of an unsuitable adhesive. If a roof spoiler becomes detached during a journey, it may impede following traffic. On the vehicles concerned, the roof spoilers are to be checked and, if necessary, re-glued and, in addition, screwed on.

There are approximately 169 vehicles affected on the Irish market.

What to do:

Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited has sent a letter to the registered owners of the vehicles affected informing them of the recall and the next steps to be taken.

If you believe that your vehicle may be impacted by this recall, then you can contact Volkswagen Group Ireland Limited’s customer care on 1850 812 761, via vwcustomer.service@vwgi.ie or speak to your local Volkswagen Retailer for further information.
