Phil & Teds buggy safety alert

January 25, 2011

Clever Clogs, the distributor of Phil & Teds products in Ireland, has issued a safety alert on the Sport V2 and Classic V1 model of buggies.

Phil and Teds buggy

The buggies were sold in Ireland between June 2008 and June 2010 through a number of retail outlets including Smyths Toy Stores and Mothercare and also through a number of online stores.  A full list of stockists can be found on the Phil & Teds website.

When folding and unfolding the buggy, a consumer’s finger could become caught in the hinge mechanism, posing a risk of injury.  There have been nine incidents reported worldwide but none reported in Ireland.

What to do:

Consumers should check for the serial number on the Sport V2 and Classic V1 buggies. This can be found on the inner face of the main hinge, underneath the seat. The affected serial numbers are:

  • Sport V2:  serial numbers 0308/0001 to 0510/0840
  • Classic V1: serial numbers 0308/0001 to 0510/0906

Consumers who discover they have one of the affected buggies should return to the retail outlet where they bought the product to obtain a free self-fit hinge kit.

Alternatively, customers can order the free self-fit hinge kit by completing the order form available on the Clever Clogs website.
