Honda Ireland extends recall of Civic, CR-V and Legend

June 14, 2016

Honda Ireland is extending its voluntary recall of certain models of the Civic, CR-V and Legend. They were manufactured between 2003 and 2008. This is an extension of the original recall of 18 February 2016.

In certain vehicles, the passenger’s front airbag inflator could produce excessive internal pressure. If an affected airbag deploys, the increased internal pressure may cause the inflator to rupture. In the event of an inflator rupture, metal fragments could be propelled into the Driver & Passenger compartment, potentially causing injury to a vehicle occupant.

Approximately 2,889 affected vehicles have been placed on the Irish market.

What to do:

Honda Motor Co Ltd has decided to take preventative recall action. The owners of all affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and asked to take their vehicle to a Honda dealer or authorised repairer.

The dealer will arrange for the replacement of the inflator inside the passenger airbag module with a new one.  This work will be carried out at no cost to the owner.
