Toyota extend Avensis recall

March 9, 2016

Toyota Ireland has extended the voluntary recall of its Avensis models – production period Jan 2008 – August 2008, to cover all remaining vehicles with particular type dual-stage front passenger inflators, as a precautionary measure.

This is an extension to the recall which was announced in July of last year.

The recall is being carried out due to a potential problem with the front passenger airbag. The passenger airbag could deploy abnormally in a crash which could possibly lead to injury.

There are an additional 4,507 Avensis vehicles affected in Ireland.

What to do

Toyota Ireland will be contacting the owners of all affected vehicles by mail and asking them to take their vehicle to a Toyota dealer. The dealer will arrange for an inspection and possible replacement of the affected part. This work will be carried out at no cost to the owner. You can get more information from Toyota Ireland directly on 01-419 0222.
