Mitsubishi recalls Lancer and “i”

October 22, 2015

Mitsubishi Motors Ireland is carrying out a voluntary recall of certain models of the “Lancer” and “i” car.

The manufacturing period for these vehicles extends from 12 June 2003 until 14 April 2007.

There is a concern about the behaviour of the passenger side airbag inflator during airbag deployment. For certain passenger side airbags, the inflator might release shrapnel from the inflator container during deployment which could injure the passenger.  There have been no failures of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles worldwide.

There are 2,836 affected vehicles in Ireland.

What to do

Initially, Mitsubishi will be contacting all affected customers to notify them that their vehicle needs to be refitted.  A second letter will then be sent out to notify the customer when to bring their vehicle into the workshop to have the necessary work carried out.  Should you need to contact Mitsubishi please use the following number: 1890 41 51 61.
