CCPC announces €200,000 funding for adult financial literacy projects in 2026

December 4, 2025

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) will provide €200,000 in funding, specifically for adult financial literacy projects across Ireland in 2026.

The funding marks the second year of the CCPC’s support for adult financial literacy projects under the €1 million Collaboration and Innovation Fund, welcomed today by Tánaiste and Minister for Finance, Simon Harris TD. The purpose of the fund is to equip adults with essential skills in literacy, numeracy, and digital capability, enabling them to access and manage financial services with confidence.

This funding supports the CCPC’s commitment to promoting financial literacy and supporting Ireland’s first National Financial Literacy Strategy, launched in February this year. The Strategy’s Action Plan includes targeted initiatives for adult financial literacy to equip those most at risk with practical skills to budget, save, and manage money confidently.

Tánaiste and Minister for Finance, Simon Harris TD said:

“Following the success of the financial literacy stream in the 2025 Collaboration and Innovation Fund, I welcome the continuation of this important funding. It is through projects like these, delivered by so many dedicated organisations and individuals on the ground, that drive improvements in financial literacy for people across Ireland.

“The Department of Finance’s five-year National Financial Literacy Strategy’s mission is to improve the level of financial literacy in Ireland by working with Ireland’s vibrant financial literacy eco-system – increasing cooperation, coordination and cohesion – and thereby increasing overall financial wellbeing and resilience.

“Organisations coming together, like the CCPC and SOLAS, is vital to delivering on our Strategy’s mission. I commend the CCPC, SOLAS and all those involved for their vital work and wish all every success in these efforts.”

Brian McHugh, Chair of the CCPC, added:

“The CCPC is committed to promoting and supporting financial education initiatives to help address Ireland’s financial literacy gap. We’re delighted to continue our partnership with SOLAS and the Adult Literacy for Life Office through the Collaboration and Innovation Fund.

“Last year’s initiatives demonstrated how innovative approaches and community-based projects can make a real difference in helping vulnerable communities to manage their money in practical ways, fully engage in society and realise their potential. We’re committed to building on that success with even more innovative and impactful initiatives in 2026.”
