CCPC Attitudes to Taxi Services Research 2026


New research from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) highlights a supply shortage in the taxi sector as four in 10 people who tried to get a taxi in December reported difficulties doing so. 

Key findings include:

  • 49% of taxi users surveyed would like the option of ride-hailing services
  • 57% of those who expressed an opinion believe that there are not enough taxis available in their area
  • 40% of those who tried to get a taxi in December 2025 experienced issues
  • 60% of survey participants support a fixed fare offering
