Submission of the CCPC to the housing for all expert group on conveyancing and probate. In its submission, the CCPC recommended that the Minister for Justice should set out a clear timetable for the establishment of conveyancing as a profession as part of a package of reforms to improve the conveyancing process. The submission also called for the development of agreed industry-wide guidance for consumers to navigate the conveyancing process and welcomed the LSRA’s recent proposal for enhanced price transparency requirements for conveyancing services. With respect to probate, the submission recommended that a new price transparency regime should also cover these services and for an end to the dual fee structure whereby lay applicants currently pay double the fee paid by solicitors. Finally, the submission called for the identification of steps needed to introduce competition into the market whereby probate professionals other than solicitors could provide those services.
