In October 2018 the CCPC took enforcement action against Derek Delaney of Edenderry, Co Offaly, in relation to Derek Delaney Motors, North Circular Road, Dublin 7. The action was taken following an investigation into an alleged misleading commercial practice in relation to the sale of a used car which displayed an incorrect odometer reading.
Misleading consumers in relation to the history of a vehicle, including incorrect mileage, is a prohibited commercial practice under the Consumer Protection Act 2007. The CCPC accepted an agreement and undertaking from Derek Delaney in relation to the sale of used cars.
