This page covers your rights when you buy digital content or a digital service.<\/p>\n<p>You can read more about your rights when buying <a href=\"\/consumers\/contracts-and-services\/contracts-and-services\/\">other services<\/a> or <a href=\"\/consumers\/shopping\/buying-goods\/buying-and-returning-goods\/\">goods<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>These rights apply if you bought on or after 29 November 2022.<\/p>\n<div id=\"accordion-1\" class=\"accordion no-js\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 role=\"button\" id=\"accordion-1-t1\" class=\"accordion-title js-accordion-controller\" aria-controls=\"accordion-1-c1\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat are digital content and digital services?\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\n\t\t<div id=\"accordion-1-c1\" class=\"accordion-content\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<h2>Digital content<\/h2>\n<p>This is data that is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>produced and supplied in digital form that you can download or buy on a DVD or disc, for example, films, games, music, e-publications<\/li>\n<li>created based on your specific requirements, for example, personalised digital greeting cards<\/li>\n<li>personal information you create, for example, content on your social media account<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Digital services<\/h2>\n<p>This is a service:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>where you can create, store, share or access data. For instance, streaming services (for example films, tv shows, games) or a social media account<\/li>\n<li>that is tailored to suit your specific requirements, for example, a customised online training course<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\t\t<\/div>\n\n\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 role=\"button\" id=\"accordion-1-t2\" class=\"accordion-title js-accordion-controller\" aria-controls=\"accordion-1-c2\" aria-expanded=\"false\" tabindex=\"0\">\n\t\t\t\tWhat a business must do\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\n\t\t<div id=\"accordion-1-c2\" class=\"accordion-content\" aria-hidden=\"true\">\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>A business must always provide digital content\/services to you that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>works how the business said it would<\/li>\n<li>is the most up to date version, unless you agree otherwise<\/li>\n<li>has all the necessary accessories and instructions<\/li>\n<li>matches any advertisement, information or trial version you have seen<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The business also has to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>install it correctly or provide instructions if you install it<\/li>\n<li>provide information on digital and security updates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These obligations will not apply if you did not install an update provided by the business.<\/p>\n<p>A business has different obligations when you depend on digital content or a digital service for a product to work. For example, you cannot use your mobile phone unless the operating software works. The information should be clear and easy to understand. Your first step is to contact the business.
